“Leave Me Alone”作為《Bad》專輯的第8隻單曲發行於1989年2月。在英國，它排名第2，成為專輯中在英國榜上排名第二高的單曲。 後來大多數《Bad》的單曲都因為市場被專輯銷售吞噬而排名不佳，事實上，《Bad》已經成為英國有史以來第2最暢銷的專輯；同時，單曲碟內由於沒有新素材的加入而難以引起人們的購買慾。“Leave Me Alone”單曲同樣沒有新素材的加入，而且它只能在CD格式的《Bad》專輯上找到。當時，並沒有很多英國人擁有CD唱盤機，而且專輯的CD銷售也不足專輯總銷售量的25%。因此，很多人通過購買單曲來收藏該曲，從而讓它在榜上取得了成功。遺憾的是它沒有在美國發行。在《Bad》專輯已經擁有美國歷史上最好單曲排名的情況下，不發行該曲的原因讓人不解。有人猜測是Sony/Epic美國總部想致力於對其他藝人的培養和宣傳，而不是去再發行第8張單曲。另外值得一提的是：《Bad》專輯在美國的銷量遠遠不如《Thriller》專輯，但它在英國的銷量卻超過了《Thriller》。它在世界範圍內的表現相對較弱，在德國和法國，它僅打進前20名，而在義大利和澳洲，則完全失敗。
