組建過程
Soilwork是重金屬世界出現的一個新的聲音，他們創造了一種令人興奮的不同尋常的風格。顯而易見，Soilwork一直在為了突破重金屬音樂固有的傳統而努力，更值得欣賞的是，他們開拓了其他樂隊所沒有觸及的領域，他們為重金屬未來的發展方向進行了令人激動的探索和展示。我對他們的主唱有著濃厚的興趣，他在演唱上速度的豐富多變也使我獲得了許多靈感，他的演唱有他獨特的風格。可以說，Soilwork是新重金屬領域最值得關注的樂隊之一。說這番話的人可不是什麼無名小輩，他就是重金屬音樂界教父級的人物，Judas Priest 的前任主唱，The Metal GodRob Halford。能讓他如此欣賞的樂隊，自然不同凡響，而這支年輕的樂隊也的的確確有著他們的過人之處。2001年Soilwork投入金屬界龍頭老大德國廠牌Nuclear Blast後推出的A Predators Portrait，可以說是Soilwork成軍至今最好的專輯。之後Soilwork走上了In Flames走過的路，向美國市場進發，變得新潮，靠攏主流。從旋律死亡金屬變成2002年Natural Born Chaos和2003年Figure Number Five的旋律金屬，樂評對此也是褒貶不一，喜歡純粹死亡金屬的，對這兩張簡直是嗤之以鼻，而喜歡時髦不太重型又要旋律好聽的，就認為這兩張專輯是Soilwork的突破。Soilwork和In Flames真的是難兄難弟惺惺相識，同是瑞典樂隊，同在Nuclear Blast門下，看看Soilwork的Rejection Role和In Flames的Trigger這兩個MV，拍攝手法一樣，音樂旋律簡單，清腔一定出現在副歌，簡直就是同一個模子倒出來的，唯一不同的就是Soilwork主唱Bjorn Speed Strid那個光頭look看起來比In Flames主唱Anders Friden那頭辮子要兇狠。2005年Soilwork推出第六張專輯Stabbing the Drama，鼓手Henry Ranta在錄製這張專輯之前已經離開樂隊，而代替他暫時擔任錄音鼓手的是法國工業死亡金屬樂隊Scarve的鼓手Dirk Verbeuren，這張專輯簡直就是鼓手Dirk Verbeuren的show time。鼓聲比吉他貝斯鍵盤都要靠前，節奏緊湊，雖然速度不高，但是力度強勁，暢快淋漓，絕對是這張專輯的最大亮點。主唱Bjorn一如既往，死腔清腔交替的套路，除了鼓手就到他表現突出了。以往專輯精彩的雙吉他solo在這張專輯裡面變得軟弱無力，剩下簡單的吉他riff，隱藏在Dirk的鼓背後卻顯得極具侵略性。第十首Blind Eye Halo，只有2分30秒，狂暴的鼓擊和嘶叫，絕對是專輯裡最重型的。在瑞典金屬樂界當中一直都有亮眼表現的Soilwork，於2002年初推出了全新的專輯「Natural Born Chaos」，這張專輯大體上延續了前作「A Predators Portrait」明快爽朗的風格，已經發過三張專輯的Soilwork在這第四張作品裡，依然是保持著同樣的風骨，精湛的雙吉他演出事實上也毋需再次的介紹，Soilwork的雙吉他火力絕對是要口碑有口碑，要實力有實力，絕對經的起考驗。當然也可回頭聽過該團所曾發行過的作品來驗證！「Natural Born Chaos」加入了旋律性的clean vocals來演唱副歌的部份，同時也營造出了一股愁悵之感！全新的Soilwork還是依然是爽快豪氣，但也不難發現該團越來越感性，甚至可以說他們感情越來越豐富。自從另一支瑞典大團Dark Tranquillity的「Projector」將一股極度濃厚的哀淒氣息注入了Melodic Death之後，導致瑞典樂團(當然是除了死硬派的死金屬之外) 幾乎都開始往這個方向前進，而這張「Natural Born Chaos」可說是Soilwork多年努力的結晶加上前人所觸發而成的一張作品！Soilwork的「Natural Born Chaos」再次讓大眾的眼光聚焦在瑞典，也讓快要平靜無波的瑞典樂壇再次泛起漣漪，就讓Soilwork的樂聲再次喚醒樂迷們沉睡的耳朵吧！
