青少年時期從小愛好音樂的Kenny Chesney自幼接收著當時盛行的一些鄉村和搖滾音樂的薰陶，不過努力學習的他在進入東田納西州立大學學習之前的時候，一直沒有把音樂當成一個謀生手段來看待。但是在進入了東田納西州立大學之後，Kenny Chesney開始彈奏吉他，並且加入了當地的一支藍草音樂樂隊，那把吉他原本是Kenny Chesney的聖誕禮物，後來卻成為了他成長為一名一流鄉村歌星的基礎。經過一段時間的鍛鍊和提高，Kenny Chesney漸漸開始自己創作歌曲，隨著不斷的演出，Kenny Chesney得到了更多的演出機會，他自己也錄製了一些小唱片在表演之後銷售。成年時期1991年，Kenny Chesney從大學畢業之後來到了美國鄉村音樂的聖城納什維爾，經過一年的不斷努力和積累，Kenny Chesney終於在這裡得到了Acuff-Rose Music的契約，並且通過這裡和Capricorn Records唱片公司簽訂了唱片契約。1994年，Kenny Chesney在Capricorn Records唱片公司發行了個人首張專輯《In My Wildest Dreams》，但是影響不是很大。因為Kenny Chesney所簽訂契約的Capricorn Records唱片公司並不是一家非常強的專業鄉村音樂唱片公司，在Kenny Chesney的《In My Wildest Dreams》發行之後不久，Capricorn Records唱片公司的鄉村分支就關張大吉，Kenny Chesney在Capricorn Records唱片公司的短暫生涯也就宣告結束了。雖然沒有唱片公司的支持，但是Kenny Chesney的《In My Wildest Dreams》還是賣出了超過十萬張，這樣的成績自然引起了另外的唱片公司的注意。
