劇情介紹
凱特是一家公司的高級主管，現代新女性的典範。憑著聰明才智和果斷魅力，她在男性世界中輕鬆自在地擁有自己的一片天地。李奧是奧爾巴尼公爵（1853—1884），非常英俊且紳士，身處1876年的紐約，他是一個最有價值的單身漢，也是電梯的發明者。2個時空相距百年的男女，唯一的共同點就是：他們希望另一半是自己的真愛。凱特的前任男友斯圖爾特無意間發現了時光隧道的裂縫，闖進了19世紀的紐約，他用微型照相機拍攝當時紐約大橋建成儀式的時候被李奧發覺，斯圖爾特為了不惹隔世情緣麻煩逃離現場。在宴會上，斯圖爾特趁李奧不注意去拍李奧設計的電梯的草圖的時候被李奧發覺。斯圖爾特逃到紐約大橋上準備經時空裂縫回到現在，李奧以為斯圖爾特有危險去救他，被帶到了21世紀的紐約市。經過一系列的遭遇，李奧闖入了凱特的世界，兩個原本不該相遇的男女見了面，從一開始的奇怪，反感，到最終的相愛，他們就在斯圖爾特因為電梯故障而住院時過了充實而有趣的一周，雖然凱特到最後還是不相信他是過去的人。但是現實是殘酷的，如果李奧不在規定的時間會到自己的時代，歷史就會顛覆，時間會混亂，人類也不會擁有安全電梯，斯圖爾特的“電梯事件”也會不存在... ...關鍵時刻，斯圖爾特說服了醫管人員，送回了李奧。這時的凱特因為李奧而升了職，在晚上的宴會上，斯圖爾特驚訝的發現自己在進入時空隧道後拍的19世紀的照片裡，竟然有一張里有凱特的身影！於是他明白了凱特回到過去也是原本的宿命，他最終送凱特回到過去，有情人終成眷屬。（電梯發明於1854年，美國人伊萊沙·格雷夫斯·奧的斯）
