最快樂搖滾隊伍——破嘴合唱團Smash Mouth94年成軍於加州聖荷西的Smash Mouth(破嘴合唱團)是支發揚龐克樂精神並發誓創造出最快樂的搖滾樂的隊伍,團名的靈感來自於美式足球聯盟NFL傳奇巨星Mike Ditka形容一種強調奪球本能的運動——Smash Mouth Football。主唱Steve Harwell愛聽貓王、鄉村樂及Hip-Hop，鼓手Kevin Coleman則從Speed metal、Ramones、Dead Kennedys一路聽到Sublime,貝斯手Paul De Lisle迷的是披頭四風格的搖滾樂、龐克搖滾,或是Van Halen、Kiss、Aerosmith、B-52\s的音樂,吉他手Greg Camp則聽盡60年代名不見經傳的車庫搖滾團或衝浪搖滾團的作品,再加上The Clash及U2。Steve與Kevin源自街頭龐克族的活力,撞上Greg、Paul這對音樂玩家,一種精燉烘培伽州搖滾佳肴於焉出爐,散發著hip-hop、拉丁、雷鬼、龐克、衝浪搖滾、ska、流行等不同佐料的風味,最重要的是,Smash Mouth找回了玩搖滾與聽搖滾最基本的樂趣。Smash Mouth(破嘴合唱團)在聖荷西跑了兩年場子表演後,因《Nervous In The Alley》獲得當地最具影響力的搖滾電台KOME的強力放送,躍身成為該電台創台以來首度破例播放無約樂團,訊息一傳開,接下來就贏得環球音樂旗下Interscope唱片公司的一紙契約,並於97年發行首張專輯《Fush Yu Mang》,專輯發行後即踏上巡迴演唱行程,與Blur、Sugar Ray、Third Eye Blind同台切磋,輯中首支單曲《Walkin\ On The Sun》漂亮出擊,搶先蟬聯Billboard現代搖榜5周冠軍,接續的《Why Can\t We Be Friends》則攻進現代搖滾榜TOP 10,專輯闖進流行專輯榜TOP 20且締造雙白金銷售記錄。在2001年上映的由傑里·朱克導演的喜劇片《亡命奪寶》中客串，並演唱了電影片尾曲《ALL STAR》。
