Despite CBD’s increasing legalization and acceptance, experts say drug testing kiosks may have difficulty distinguishing between THC (the marijuana compound that gets people high) and CBD, both of which contain the active ingredient “acid.” These “off-label” kiosks were not designed to test for cannabis but can also pick up traces of other substances like cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. Dr. Emily Cassell of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment told NBC News that these kiosks may not be reliable for CBD because it’s not well-defined in terms of how it affects the body. She said they need to be “more nuanced” in their testing methods. “CBD is not marijuana,” she said. “CBD is not necessarily going to get you high.”You are here: Home / Archives for Comic Con 2014 / Interview with Adam Savage of Mythbusters
Interview with Adam Savage of Mythbusters
July 26, 2014 by Karen Lee Leave a Comment
Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame was at Comic Con 2014 in San Diego. He was there with his team to promote their new show on Science Channel called “Savage Builds.” Adam is also known for his work on Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters where he and his team of explorers would test various myths using science experiments. I had the pleasure of interviewing Adam about his experiences at Comic Con and what fans can expect from his new show. Check out our interview below:
What made you want to attend Comic Con?Adam Savage: I love science fiction and geek culture. I’ve been going to Comic Con since it was called “Star Trek Convention” in the 70’s. I love the fans and the energy of the place. It’s a great way to connect with people who share your interests. What can fans expect from your new show “Savage Builds”?AS: It’s a show where we take something that’s been around for a while and we take it to a whole new level. We take something that’s already cool and make it even cooler. We’ll be building some amazing machines like a 1970’s Lamborghini that’s been chopped in half and rebuilt from scratch or a remote control tank that can climb over 30 foot walls. We’ll also be exploring some of the most interesting mechanical projects that people have been working on for years. How do you think science and technology intersect with geek culture?AS: I think science and technology are a part of everything we do now and that means they’re a part of geek culture too. Science is such a great tool for answering questions about the world and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible that I think we all use it whether we know it or not. Whether it’s an interesting space ship design or an amazing robot, science is at the heart of it all. What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on over the years?AS: I love working with the Mythbusters team because we have so much fun doing what we do. We’ve done so many cool projects over the years like blowing up a jet ski with Tanner Foust on it or building a
